Lily Lolo Sculpt & Glow Duo | Review + How-To

Wednesday, June 29, 2016

Contouring has become a popular technique in recent years, with dozens of different methods, tutorials and products popping up, each becoming seemingly becoming more complicated than the last, featuring weird patterns (like this one!) and a peculiar assortment of tools.

When it comes to green beauty, however, there aren't many products around created specifically for contouring. That's where the Lily Lolo Sculpt & Glow Contour Duo comes in.

The Contour Duo includes two pressed powders - one contour shade, and one highlight. I usually dislike powders, and find them irritating, heavy and not very flattering. The Lily Lolo Sculpt & Glow Contour Duo is not your standard powder. It is beautifully lightweight, looks natural on the skin and feels like silk.

Colour & Texture

The contour shade is flattering medium tone, and does not cast either red, muddy or ashy. The contour powder is matte, and has a flat finish.

The highlighter is a light vanilla tone, is completely shimmer and glitter free, but rather just gives a gorgeous light-reflective glow to the skin. The particles are very finely milled, so this highlighter can be applied almost anywhere on the face for a natural glow.

Both powders are silky, incredibly lightweight and non-irritating. Neither look or feel heavy, don't settle into fine lines and don't become cakey or "powdery" looking with layering.

Application & Wear

The Lily Lolo Sculpt & Glow Contour Duo is pretty much fool-proof. Both shades are very flattering, and the product is so buildable that you needn't fear overdoing it.

I prefer a natural, subtle contour (especially for day time. In evening light you can be more heavy-handed), so this is absolutely perfect for me. It's always best to have a buildable product, as it's much easier to layer up than try to correct over-application. If I am doing a heavier look (for evening), I will spritz my finished makeup with a light, hydrating facial mist, as this sets my make-up, but also keeps it fresh and natural.

I use a contour brush (code megsyjane saves 10% off) for the contour, and this blush brush for the highlight on my cheekbones. For smaller areas (like the nose) an eye shadow brush works well.

My How-To for the Lily Lolo Sculpt & Glow Contour Duo was recently published on the Beautiful Because blog. Head on over to check it out.

I also love using the contour shade as a light bronzer, rather than a contour. For a bronzer, I use a large, soft brush, to lightly dust along the high points of the face and jawline. I also use it as an eye shadow, just to warm up the crease of the eye.

The highlighter would have to be one of my favourites, especially in warmer weather, as powders tend to be lighter and last better than creams. It pairs beautifully with the contour, and I even sweep it lightly under the eye area for an added brightening effect.

As will all Lily Lolo products, the packaging is ultra sleek, and has a matte black & white finish. I love the mirrored compact - it fits perfectly in my hand and is really lightweight. The compact is also super slim, so it fits easily into my make-up bag and keeps everything nice and tidy.

Ingredients & Certification

Lily Lolo is a mineral makeup brand, so most ingredients aren't/can't be certified organic.
They are however all-natural, free from nano particles, bismuth oxychloride, synthetic dyes, synthetic fragrances, petrochemicals and parabens.

Lily Lolo is also Cruelty Free International Certified and vegan friendly. You can find a full list of ingredients here.

I love everything about this contour duo, it's sleek, simple to use, wears all day and is healthy for the skin - and it won't break the bank, either!

You can shop Lily Lolo at Beautiful Because, and use code megsy10 to save 10% off your first order.

If you're in the USA, you can also find Lily Lolo at Safe & Chic.

Kypris Moonlight Catalyst | Review

Saturday, June 25, 2016

Founded on the philosophy that feeling beautiful is a birthright, and not some reductive, externalised goal, but a vital spiritual experience of love, acceptance, and pleasure, Kypris Beauty is one of the leading brands in natural skincare. Whilst not always 100% certified organic, Kypris Beauty includes only the highest quality, most pure and unrefined ingredients in their formulations to ensure the most effective, safest skincare possible.

Kypris Beauty has a holistic approach to beauty & business - the products not only include certified organic and wild-crafted ingredients, but also source from small farms and co-ops, all are sustainably procured, support women-owned farms, Cruelty Free, Vegan, and all are 100% natural and naturally-derived.

When we take time to properly care for ourselves, the joy we feel infuses our wellbeing and days, resonates throughout our families and communities, and exponentially enhances our quality of life. I want this for myself, and I want this for you. - Chase Polan, Founder

This is a line that is much talked about, and for good reason. I've been eyeing the line off for some time, and began with the Moonlight Catalyst, and I also received a deluxe sample of the Beauty Elixir 2 Healing Bouquet (I'll be reviewing this separately, although I will say, it is absolute heaven!)

About the Moonlight Catalyst

The Kypris Beauty Moonlight Catalyst Serum is a chemical exfoliant (vs a manual exfoliant), a gentle herbal alternative to retinoid treatments (if you want to know why retinols are actually bad for your skin in the long term, check out this useful post), increases cell turn over and deeply hydrates.

With 18 active natural ingredients, this serum plumps, hydrates, refines, keeps pores clear, diminishes marks from blemishes and has long-term anti-ageing benefits.

Fermented Pumpkin Enzyme softens the skin, increases cellular renewal, and decreases the appearance of environmental overexposure and inflammatory lifestyle.

Vigna Acontifolia is a potent plant extract that mimics the effects of cosmetic retinoid preparations without irritation, peeling or redness.

Sea Algae extracts, with their unique abilities to hydrate and calm the skin without overwhelming pores, leave skin soothed, glowing and firmed.

Xylitylglucoside is the precursor to the natural production of hyaluronic acid. Xylitylglucoside supports the skin's ability to deeply hydrate.

Neroli is a sweet flower water to soothe the skin.

 Application Consistency

The Kypris Beauty Moonlight Catalyst is to be applied only in the evening (after sunset), and the applied-to area must be cleansed in the morning. Aside from the gentle exfoliation this serum offers, it also contains a small amount of Bitter Orange extract - citrus can increase sensitivity to the sun when worn on the skin, so this is best removed and sunlight avoided whilst wearing the serum. (If you've seen my post on the Captain Blankenship Ray of Light Sea Salt Spray, the citrus in the spray, combined with sunlight, is what lightens your hair)

I've seen that Chase suggests using a whole dropper full of the Moonlight Catalyst. However, I've been using just 2 (generous) drops on my entire face each evening, for around 6 weeks.

The consistency is a clear, thick gel-like serum. I was expecting something much thinner, so the jelly-like consistency was a bit of a surprise (but not an unpleasant one!).

It is very lightweight, and it is cooling to apply. The Moonlight Catalyst spreads easily over the skin, and sinks in very quickly, although I can't imagine using more than the 2 drops on my skin. Perhaps if you're skin was very congested or in need of urgent help, but I think if I used a whole dropper, it would just feel excessive.

I always apply this after I've applied a facial mist and the Earthwise Beauty Green Leaves & Co Oil. You can do it in whichever order you prefer, (I don't know if it matters), but I prefer to apply the Green Leaves & Co as the very first step (after cleansing & toning), as it sinks in better, and everything else spreads more easily.

As this is a serum, there is no oiliness, greasiness or heaviness after application. Once I've massaged it in, I wouldn't even know I had it on.

As mentioned above, I've been using the Moonlight Catalyst for 6wks.

I should also mention my skin type is balanced/normal, and I do have the occasional/hormonal breakout.

I saw almost immediate results with this serum, and that isn't something that happens very often, and I certainly don't expect. It wasn't drastic (don't expect a face lift overnight!), but rather subtle, but there was definitely an immediate difference.

Texture - My skin is much smoother and softer, it's clearer (it was fairly clear congestion-wise prior to this, due to the aforementioned Earthwise Beauty Oil, although on more troubled areas like the nose, I noticed quite a difference), and more evenly toned. It is also more hydrated - I'm not needing as much of my other products and considering it is the middle of winter, that's quite a feat!

Blemish-wise - any redness or marks from those fade much faster, they disappear much quicker when the odd one does pop up and the usual dryness you can get around blemishes doesn't seem to be as obvious, if there at all.

The Moonlight Catalyst is also supposed to assist with fine lines and wrinkles - while I can't speak for it's abilities there, I do feel my skin looks fresher overall.

Detox - As I said above, my skin was fairly clear prior to incorporating this serum, although I did want something to assist with the occasional/hormonal breakouts. That said, if your skin is quite congested, it can and probably will go through a detox/purge period when you first begin using something like this. It is designed to refine the texture of your skin, clear the pores and promote skin cell renewal. If you have any congestion, it may be brought to the surface and result in skin that breakouts/looks more congested to begin with. Be gentle with your skin and let it go through this detox stage.

Consistent use is key (don't give up after a week or two, give all skincare a good 4wks min.), and pair it with a good detox mask to aid your skin through it's detox period.

Whist what's on the inside is what is most important, I'm always heavily swayed by the packaging, too. Most of it comes down to practicality (is it easy to use/apply/dispense/store), but I love it when a product looks stunning.

All of the Kypris Beauty products come packaged in a glass bottle, with a glass dropper (with the exception of the Body Elixir). They are also packaged in simply delightful white boxes with metallic gold details. The gorgeous white and gold botanical illustrations are carried through on the labels, and the bottles are not only easy, but beautiful to use.

I'm hooked by Kypris Beauty and the results. I'm planning to try the Clearing Serum or Antioxidant Dew next. Although at a higher price point, I believe Kypris Beauty products are well worth it, and I've needed so little, the one bottle will last me at least 6-8mths.

You can find Kypris at Beautiful Because in Australia, and code MEGSY10 will save you 10% off your first order.

Fresh-Faced #FOTD

Friday, June 24, 2016

Today's look is a bit of a flash-back - an 'oldie, but a goodie' -  and it's one I often wear. Soft, natural, and easy to apply with a short amount of time, but still feel fresh and pulled together. This look also works for any occasion and I often do a variation of it, sometimes with a touch of bronzer, a winged liner or bolder lip.

Foundation / Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation in Silken
Powder / RMS Beauty Tinted "Un" Powder in 0-1 all over (inc. eye lids)
Cheeks & Lips / Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Blossoming
Brows / W3LL People Capitalist Brow Powder in 911
Eyes / Zuii Organic Eyeshadow in Mustard
Lashes / Ere Perez Black Volumising Waterproof Mascara
Highlight / RMS Beauty Living Luminiser on cheek bones, brow bone and cupids bow

When I first purchased the Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation, I also purchased the Kjaer Weis Foundation Brush. I've since discovered the MOTD Cosmetics Brushes, and now use the Beauty & The Base brush for all my foundation. It applies SO much better, blends flawlessly and I can have my foundation finished in 2mins.

Don't get me wrong, the Kjaer Weis brush works very well, but I now use it for small areas (like lining around the mouth after applying lipstick) and concealing-type work (it really is concealer brush size). I much prefer the MOTD Cosmetics Brushes, which are equally as high quality, and do a much better job in my opinion ( and for a fraction of the price).

La Mav Organic Vit C Advanced Nightly Repair Nectar | Review + Discount

Wednesday, June 22, 2016

La Mav Organic is one of the first organic skincare lines I discovered. The award-winning range is Australian made & owned, Australian Certified Organic, Cruelty Free, and is free of harsh chemicals, fillers, talc, sulphates, GM ingredients, parabens, mineral oils, phthalates, artificial colours and fragrances.

Although the range has a heavy focus on anti-ageing (which I prefer to call skin maintenance), the products are suited to all skin types, even the most sensitive, and you can easily shop by skin concern (ie oily, dry, etc).

I recently received the Complete Collection for Oily/Combination Skin. Although my skin type is balanced (neither oily nor dry ie 'normal'), most of the products are perfectly suited to my skin.

I'm going to be reviewing each product over the next few weeks, so check back for updates or follow me on instagram. First up, I'm reviewing the La Mav Organic Vit C Advanced Nightly Repair Nectar

Texture & Application

The La Mav Organic Vit C Advanced Nightly Repair Nectar is a luxuriously silky, lightweight oil. Formulated with high levels of Vitamin C and Rosehip Oil, the nectar promotes visibly lighter, evenly toned and radiant skin, delivering long lasting anti-aging benefits and also helps to reduce the appearance of lifestyle damage.

This nectar is so lightweight, and absorbs so quickly that even people who don't like oils will love this. I've been using the Vit C Advanced Nightly Repair Nectar for around 4 weeks, and it leaves my skin so unbelievably silky and soft (unlike another other product I've ever used), even through to the next day.

After cleansing, I spritz my skin with a toner (toners/ facial mists help your other skincare products to be absorbed more deeply and efficiently into the skin), then massage 2-3 drops of the nectar all over my face and neck.

This nectar is also incredible underneath make-up due to the silky texture it gives the skin.

Results & Ingredients

Since I don't have any pigmentation, fine lines or age spots to treat, I can't speak for the lightening/smoothing properties of those. I have, however, noticed my skin is more radiant, evenly toned, and any redness or marks/pigmentation from blemishes also fade much faster since I began using this every evening. Since I believe that you should begin maintaining and caring for your skin as soon as you start a skincare ritual, I also love that the Vit C Advanced Nightly Repair Nectar is packed full of ingredients with long lasting anti-ageing benefits.
And did I mention my skin is baby's-bottom soft?

This nectar is also one of the purest, good-for-skin oils I've come across. Not a synthetic or "filler" ingredient in sight.

*Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, *Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot Kernel) Oil, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate (Vitamin C); *Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E – plant derived); *Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Pulp Oil; *Vaccinium Myrtillus (Bilberry) Seed Oil, *Borago Officinalis (Borage) Seed Oil; *Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Oil; *Camellia Oleifera (Camellia) Oil; *Calophyllum Inophyllum (Tamanu) Nut Oil, *Vaccinium Vitis-Idaea (Lingonberry) Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, *Essential Oils of – *Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang), *Cymbopogon Citratus (Lemongrass), *Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense), *Commiphora Myrrha (Myrrh), *Citrus Sinensis (Orange Sweet) and *Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil.

* designates an Australian certified organic ingredient

The Vit C Advanced Nightly Repair Nectar is packaged in a semi-transparent glass bottle with push-button glass dropper. It not only looks gorgeous on the shelf, but it feels beautiful to use. I always prefer a dropper for oils, as you can dispense the perfect amount of product easily and quickly.

The 30ml bottle will also last several months, as you do only need 2-3 drops (especially if layering with other skincare).

Overall + Discount

I absolutely adore La Mav Skincare. Their products are formulated to the highest quality and purity, feel beautiful on the skin and deliver results. They really are proof that you don't need to rely on toxic synthetic chemicals to provide lasting skincare benefits and anti-ageing, and you also don't need to spend a small fortune.

You can shop the entire La Mav Organic range and receive $5 off with code loveyourskin.

For international beauties, you can also purchase La Mav Organic from Nourished Life, which ships worldwide. Code SHOP will also save you 10% off sitewide, or checkout the shop pages.

Toss it Tuesday | Mascara

Tuesday, June 21, 2016

Mascara can seem like one of the trickier items to replace with a safe alternative that still matches the same standards - but think again. With naturally long lashes and my preference towards cream-based products (most creams are oil-based, and what do we use to remove eye-makeup? Oil.), smudging can be a problem for me, however, choosing the right mascara (or making sure to set with a translucent powder) makes the world of difference and will have you batting your toxin-free lashes in no time!
What's really lurking in your mascara? Regardless of brand, most mascaras contain toxic synthetic preservatives, and other questionable ingredients. Many also contain synthetic fragrance and petroleum-by products.

From popular mainstream brands (think L'Oreal, Revlon, CoverGirl, Maybelline), to luxury brands such as Lancome, Chanel, Dior and YSL, and other popular beauty brands like NARS, Tarte, Urban Decay, MAC & Too Faced, here's what you'll find if you take a peek at that ingredient label:

- Parabens

These usually start with a prefix of butyl, methyl, ethyl, isobutyl, propyl etc.Parabens have been linked to endocrine disruption and allergens in European studies

- Midazolidinyl Urea (Germall II) and Diazolidinyl Urea (Germall 115)

These are the most commonly used preservatives after the parabens. Neither of the Germall chemicals provide good antifungal protection, and must be combined with other preservatives. They release formaldehyde at just over ten degrees. Formaldehyde is a known human carcinogen.

This chemical is under growing scientific scrutiny because of high levels found in every woman of reproductive age. Phthalates are suspected of causing birth defects. The European Parliament prohibited the use of the phthalates Di-(2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate (DEHP) and DBP in cosmetics. Phthalates are absorbed through the skin, inhaled and ingested when they leach from plastic containers and contaminate food and water. Animal studies prove that phthalates damage the liver, kidneys, lungs and reproductive systems (testes). They also can induce a state of hypersensitivity in the immune system.

My favourite way to quickly check the ingredients of a product? ThinkDirty. Download the app now and start scanning or searching for products. You'll be surprised by what you find!

But this doesn't mean you have to go without gorgeous, luscious lashes.

Nope. You CAN have the same results, without the toxic chemicals. I've rounded up my favourites below.

Best for: Va-va-voom lashes.

If you really want to up the volume and length of your lashes, this is my go-to and #1.
It truly is waterproof, cry-proof and can be removed without tugging with a make-up remover or oil and cotton pad.

Best for: Lengthening and definition. Vegan friendly.

The Lily Lolo Mascara is one of the most popular natural mascaras for it's lengthening and volumising abilities. Whilst not quite as volumising as the Ere Perez mascara, the Lily Lolo Natural Mascara gives beautiful length - so you won't miss your old toxic mascaras one bit!

W3LL People Expressionist Bio Extreme Mascara
Best for: Definition and length.

This award-winning mascara creates such beautiful clump-free definition, length and is easily layered to create volume. Go lightly for a natural finish, or apply as per usual for gorgeous fluffy lashes.

Tip: I love to layer this underneath the Ere Perez Volumising Waterproof Mascara for added volume and lashes that last all day.

Kjaer Weis Mascara
Best for: Lengthening.

If you want length, then this mascara is your answer! With 99.8% of the ingredients sourced from organic farming, and the refillable tube (yes, even the mascara is refillable!), this is not only eye-friendly, but eco-friendly, too!

Best for: Definition.

For defined and naturally gorgeous lashes, the rms beauty Defining Mascara is long-lasting, non-clumping and nourishes your lashes. rms beauty also have a Volumising Mascara - tip: layer different formulas for the ultimately volumised and defined lashes, rather than trying to find everything in one formula. It will give you a better finish and result.

100% Pure Black Tea Ultra Lengthening Mascara
Best for: Lengthening. Vegan. Fair complexions (brown option available)

Pigmented with only fruit and plant-based dyes, 100% Pure is truly one of the purest brands available. This mascara is also available in three shades.

Best for: Fair complexions (four shades), Natural length and definition.

With four gorgeous, wearable shades, this mascara is perfect for a natural look, or opt for Nightfall to lengthen, define and volumise. Nourishes the lashes and doesn't smudge or clump.

Plume Lash & Brow Growth Serum Review + 6 Week Results

Friday, June 17, 2016

When Beautiful Because launched Plume Science here in Australia I must admit I was intrigued. I'd heard about Plume (formerly NuvaLash), and always wondered how an all-natural serum could possibly grow my lashes and/or brows, so naturally, I was interested to see the results. Was it just placebo? A bit more on that in a moment.

Plume began when brand founder Lauren Bilon suffered from postpartum hormonal changes causing her eyelashes to fall out. To address her problem, she tried a popular prostaglandin based chemical eyelash serum. While effective in growing back her lashes, the serum had many unwanted side effects including turning her eyelids purple. Now unable to continue using the product, the effects wore off and Lauren was back to square one with short, sparse lashes. Her next alternative was false lashes. While also effective in achieving her look, after an unfortunate incident with lash glue, she got a bad eye infection and was put on antibiotics for a number of weeks. Still not wanting to give up on her lashes, she decided to start exploring more natural avenues. Through heavy research and extensive trial of various natural compounds, Lauren and her circle were starting to see some impressive results in terms of lash growth.

The formula is 100% natural, Cruelty Free and contains Certified Organic ingredients. Plume Lash Serum uses botanicals and natural ingredients to grow your lashes to their full potential, hydrating and nourishing to encourage growth and strengthen your lashes.

Plume say:
Plume’s proprietary plant-derived formula has a three-part-effect on the appearance of your lashes and brows:

• Hydration: Nourishes follicles to strengthen the root of each hair
• Longevity: Moves hair follicles from a resting phase into a prolonged growth phase
• Protection: Anti-oxidants protect delicate hairs from environmental stress - like the sun

You can find the ingredients listed here.

The Plume Lash Serum is packaged in a sleek mascara-like tube, but in place of the usual wand tip is a short, straight brush. It applies a little like an eyeliner brush or pen tip - firm, but flexible. I apply this in the evening (to clean skin, after all my other skincare). It's as easy as closing one eye, and running the brush tip across the base of my lashes (top side). I then also work the serum from base to tip, to ensure each is thoroughly coated.

You can also apply in the morning for more dramatic results. I just followed an evening routine, as I often wear make-up (I don't see the point of putting it on underneath make-up - I feel as though I would wipe/wash it away) and I wanted to keep a consistent routine for results purposes. The evening also works well for me. If I wasn't wanting to measure results with consistent use, I would apply it in the morning on days when I wasn't wearing make-up, too.

My bare lashes, Day 1

I've been using this consistently every evening for 6 full weeks, but I saw results within the first week. My eyelashes already have great natural length, so I wasn't expecting a great deal here (they hit my brow bone and leave mascara smudges if I don't set or let it dry!) Plume says that the formula supports your lashes and follicles to grow your eyelashes to their full potential - so I was assuming due to the length of my eyelashes, they were/are already at their longest.

Week 6 / (Bare) Natural Eyelashes
I was surprised to see my lashes did grow, and within the first 2 weeks. The most noticeable difference I saw on my eyelashes was the fullness and darkness of my eyelashes. I have so much more thickness/density to my eyelashes now, and they are considerably darker. You can seen in the 6 week photo below the density.

Week 6 / Bare Eyelashes
Bare Eyelashes Plume Week 6 Results | Left Side - Day 1 / Right Side - Week 6
See the difference? I was amazed at how much healthier, fuller and darker my eyelashes are, and considering how long they were beforehand, I'm also surprised by the extra length! If you've experienced hair loss, had a mishap with an eyelash curler (yes, some have been known to cut off eyelashes!), are a born shortie or just want va-va-voom lashes without toxic chemicals, then GET YOURSELF PLUME! It really is a super simple, natural solution to beautiful eyelashes, and takes less than 1min each evening. The one tube has also lasted me the 6wks and I still have more to go, so it is also quite reasonably priced once you break it down.

You can purchase Plume Lash Serum exclusively from Beautiful Because within Australia, or if you're in the US, Safe & Chic carries it.

PLUS, if you're new to Beautiful Because, you can snag 10% off your first order with code MEGSY10. Enjoy beauties!

Organic Cream Blushes - My Top 8

Thursday, June 16, 2016

I've talked about cream blushes before, and why I love them in a number of posts, so today I've rounded up my favourite organic cream blushes - from the multi-tasking to quick and easy, to travel-friendly and the most luxurious.

Beautiful Because - use code megsy10 & save 10% off your first order
Nourished Life - use code SHOP & save 10% off sitewide

ILIA Beauty Multi-Stick / $34(USD)

If you want a multi-tasking, travel-friendly number, this is it. The ILIA Beauty Multi-Sticks are creamy and moisturising on the lips, and give a gorgeous dewy finish to the cheek. The colour lasts all day, and due to the handy packaging, touch-ups or travelling light is a breeze!

I apply this right from the stick to both the cheeks and the lips, and use fingertips to pat out and blend. My favourite shade is At Last. It's a sophisticated muted, dusty rose, with a hint of plum.

rms beauty Lip2Cheek / $36 (USD)

Another multi-tasker, the rms beauty Lip2Cheek is a drier formula than the ILIA Multi-Sticks and I require a lip balm over the top if I'm wearing this on my lips. As a blush, however, Demure is one of my staples. The rms beauty Lip2Cheek still gives a gorgeous sheen to the skin with high-performance pigment that lasts all day. This one little pot also lasts me a good 12mths with daily use.

Silky, creamy and also vegan, the Au Naturale Lip & Cheek Tint comes in an array of flattering colours. Pat onto the skin for a healthy, dewy flush of colour, and press onto lips for a just-kissed pout. Au Naturale also have an organic creme blusher in a stick option for those who prefer.

Vapour Aura Multi-Use Stick / $47

The Vapour Aura Multi-Use Sticks come in 3 different options (Classic, Radiant, Stain) and an array of shades. They look gorgeous on the skin, can be applied right from the stick and the sleek packaging makes for easy on-the-go application or a compact make-up bag for travel! These also make a gorgeous lip colour (I like a lip balm over the top).

Pigmented using only fruits, these really are 100% Pure. In a handy twist-up tube, this little multi-tasker will be your new best friend. Silky smooth on the cheeks and lips, this is healthy colour that gives you a gorgeous glow. Apply right from the stick for mess-free application or warm with the fingertips.

This lightweight, compact little number slips effortlessly into your purse or pocket, and makes touch-ups a breeze. The colour is flattering for both lips and cheeks, and gives the skin a dewy, fresh finish. The deeper colours leave a lovely stain on the lips, and can be worn alone or under a lip balm or gloss for extra moisture. You need so little this pan will last months.
W3LL People Universalist Multi-Stick / $40

The W3LL People Universalist Multi-Stick has a range of flattering, natural shades for a fresh flush of colour in a blink. Use on cheeks, lips and eyes for an easy, no-fuss look that can be pulled together effortlessly.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush / $78 (compact, refills are $46)

The most luxe of them all, the Kjaer Weis Cream Blush is another favourite of mine. Rich, nourishing and offering a flattering, natural flush of colour to the skin, a little of this high-performance, highly-pigmented colour goes a long way. The initial purchase is pricey, but with the refills considerably less, the Kjaer Weis Cream Blush works out about the same as a lot of other organic brands in the long run. The one pan lasts me a good 9-12mths. Blossoming is my go-to, but I also adore Lovely and am eyeing off Embrace

5min #FOTD

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

When I want to get my make-up done in 5mins, I usually just go with the basics - foundation, blush, a quick swipe of mascara and lipstick. If I have a little extra time, I'll swipe on a quick eyeliner. Now, usually I would need an extra 10mins to apply eyeliner alone, but since I've switched to using a brush, I can tight-line or do a winged liner in 2mins. In a pinch, you can use your mascara (with a brush) as a liquid liner!

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Blossoming Review

Saturday, June 11, 2016

I used to only wear mineral powder products, but since discovering cream-based products, I've barely tried anything else. Cream blushes are probably the item I love most - it gives more control and precision in application than a powder, and also has a gorgeous, dewy, fresh finish that you just cannot achieve with a powder blush.

It's no secret that I love Kjaer Weis, and they certainly are one of the most luxurious - and the best - organic make-up brands available. Their range of cream blushes come in ten, flattering shades. From the very lightest to the more vibrant, deeply pigmented shades, all are very wearable and suit most complexions. The Kjaer Weis Blossoming Cream Blush is described as “...a rosy tone that will give you a healthy, glowing, fresh-faced look.”

On my skin tone, Blossoming is a rose pink with peach undertones. It gives me a healthy, natural fresh flush of colour, and it is probably one of my favourite shades. It works with any other colours on my eyes or lips, be it neutral or bold, and works especially well with just a nude, winged eye and pink lip. I also love to press this into the lips (with a touch of lip balm over the top) to effortlessly pull my whole look together. I also love to wear Kjaer Weis Blossoming with the Dazzling Bronzer (perfect for lightly contouring), as the colours play off so well together and it keeps my look fresh and natural.

Kjaer Weis always excels in the packaging department. The heavy mirrored metal compacts are eco-luxe at its' finest, and each compact is refillable, the empty pans recyclable. These are always an absolute treat to use. The design of the compact also makes these easy to use if you've got limited space or are on-the-go, as you don't need to hold/find somewhere to put the lid whilst you apply the product. The back of the lid is also mirrored, so you can use it for touch-ups!

If you don't want to splurge on the compact, or already own a magnetic palette, you can simply purchase the refills and create your own palette. A popular option is the Z-Palette, which comes in a range of colours and sizes, and you can also purchase empty pans if you want to add lipsticks etc to your palette. For me, I prefer the compacts. They fit nicely in my make-up bag, look stunning and feel gorgeous (and simple) to use.

Application, Finish & Wear

The Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Blossoming gives the most beautiful dewy finish to the skin, that just gives a healthy glow as you move. The colour lasts all day and does not fade. If I want that extra glow, I'll add the Radiance Highlighter or rms beauty Living Luminiser.

I simply tap the blush into my skin with my fingertips, and then lightly blend. This gives the most natural look for me, and I can build up the colour as I want and also control placement, without disturbing the product underneath.

I absolutely adore everything Kjaer Weis creates, and I have my eye on Lovely (I've sampled this and although a brighter/deeper colour, it still works beautifully with my skin tone) and Embrace next.

Blossoming is a firm favourite, and I'll most definitely be replacing it once I hit the pan! If I only had one blush, this would be it.
