I recently received a few products from Weleda to try out, and I must say I've been pleasantly surprised. I didn't know a great deal about the brand prior to this, and have found it to be considerably under-rated.

A little bit about Weleda:

"Weleda was founded by humanitarian and philosopher Rudolf Steiner in the 1920s. He also developed the principles of biodynamic farming and anthroposophical medicine, and today many of these principles are still used to create Weleda products.

Weleda strives to source only the finest ingredients from biodynamic, organic and wild crafted suppliers. We don’t just buy organic ingredients on the open market, we work in partnership with growers to ensure we know where the ingredients are grown, what the soil is like, and how and when the plants are harvested, distilled or processed. It’s our attention to detail that ensures maximum vitality and potency of the ingredients in our products."

Weleda is also certified by NATRUE, which has the highest international criteria for natural and organic finished products, not just the ingredients, and sources only ethically, environmentally and socially responsible ingredients - making it one of the purest, safest brands available, in my opinion!

I was also pretty impressed by the detailed and useful information about their ingredients, processes and packaging on the FAQ page

I received a few products from the line - the Weleda Skin Food, Almond Soothing Facial Oil, Almond Sensitive Skin Body Lotion and the Almond Soothing Cleansing Lotion. I will be doing a separate review of each of these over the next few weeks!

My skin has always been finicky when it comes to cleansers - too often they burn or leave my skin feeling squeaky-clean and stripped bare.

The Weleda Almond Soothing Cleansing Lotion has a rich, almost soft whipped cream-like consistency, and it feels cooling and soothing on the skin.

The cleanser is also very light - something I've noticed with cream cleansers is that I can really feel the product on my skin. This barely feels like it is touching my skin, yet it removes all traces of make-up with very little effort!

It leaves my skin feeling soft, fresh, hydrated, and supple.
No burning, no stripped feeling. Just lovely plump skin!

For such a simple cleanser, it is probably one of the loveliest and best I've ever used.
I think it will definitely be replacing my current cleanser.

The ingredients are:

Water (Aqua), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Alcohol, Prunus Domestica Seed Oil, Xanthan Gum, Lactic Acid

You can purchase, or find out more about the Weleda range from Nourished Life, Beautiful Because or Weleda.
